Westridge School District faced mounting challenges: teacher burnout, increasingly diverse student needs, and pressure to deliver personalized instruction with limited resources. This case study examines how implementing Athena, an AI-powered teaching assistant, addressed these challenges across elementary, middle, and high school classrooms during a year-long pilot program. Results show significant teacher time savings, increased student engagement, and improved differentiation practices across the district. Teachers saved an average of 7.3 hours weekly on administrative and planning tasks. The district reported a 42% reduction in teacher weekend work hours, 89% of teachers report being better able to differentiate instruction, 23% improvement in teacher job satisfaction scores, and special education documentation compliance increased from 76% to 98%. Student engagement metrics showed a 23% increase in assignment completion rates, 17% improvement in reading engagement metrics, and 31% increase in student participation during differentiated activities.
